Hovering at a Law Altitude

Hovering at a Law Altitude was created in the early 90’s as a reaction to the first Palestinian uprising (Intifada) in Israel. These images were created by combining pictures from Israeli magazines and old photo albums with my own photographs. The title; Hovering at a Law Altitude comes from a poem written by Dalia Ravikovitch, an Israeli poet who was active in the Israeli peace movement. The title refers to a way of seeing; a detached observation of terrible events that are happening around us. In these images I am expressing my own feeling of being caught in a perpetual denial and fear of war while trying to maintain a normal life.
