Video: Artist in Wilderness Residency, Aspen, Colorado

During my artist residency in Aspen, Colorado, I visited the Benedict Music Tent  (at Aspen Meadows) early one evening. I was struck by the shadows of the Aspen trees dancing on the tent’s canvas. The tree's shadows created a lyrical play of textures, curved lines and “drawings” on the tent’s edge and canvas. They reminded me of Japanese art, so graceful and elegant, mysterious and elusive with the changing of the light. In that brief moment in time, the Aspen trees turned these canvas structures into a space of sanctity and beauty.
